International Space Station: ARISS contact planned January 7, 2013 with school in France
ARISS contact planned January 7, 2013 with school in France
An International Space Station school contact has been planned January 7, 2013 with participants at Ecole Les Muriers,Saint-Maur-Des-Fosses, France. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:57 UTC, which is 11.57 CEWT.
The contact will be a direct operated by F6KMX/p. Interested parties in Europe are invited to listen to dowlink signals on 145.800 MHz FM.
Saint-Maur-des-Fosses is a small city (77,000 inhabitants) located at about 15 km South-East of PARIS, separated from the capital by the large Vincennes Forest, and located on the top of a loop formed by the river Marne.
The name of the city is inspired from the Chateau of Saint-Maur, which was frequently visited by the queen Marie de Medicis in the 16th Century.
The school Les Muriers is educating about 500 children in 17 classrooms. The pupils are aged from 8 to 11 and they prepare for their access to Middle school. The children of a classroom of 22 (CM2/ 5th grade) have worked with their teacher on a dream project : a direct contact, via ham radio, with an astronaut aboard the ISS.
This year the children are studying life in space and understanding the Space Station. They are participating to science and ham-radio activities organized by the Radio-club of St-Maur (F6KMX). [more...]

AMSAT: Amateur Radio Satellite ARISSat-1/KEDR is Deployed - Amateursatellit ARISSat-1/KEDR in Betrieb gesetzt
The ARISSat-1/KEDR space craft was deployed from the ISS at 1843Z on August 3 after a hold based upon questions about the 70cm antenna. Congratulations to the ARISSat-1/KEDR team! Now bring on those reception reports. The satellite will be in High power mode (continuous transmission) when in the sun and go to Low power (40 seconds transmit/2 minutes idle) mode when in eclipse.

AMSAT Information:
145.950 MHz FM Downlink
FM transmissions will cycle between a voice ID as RS01S, select telemetry values, 24 international greeting messages in 15 languages and SSTV images. One of the messages will be a conversation between Yuri Gagarin and ground control.
If you successfully receive the SSTV transmissions, you are invited to upload your picture to
to the ARISS SSTV Gallery.
145.919 MHz CW Beacon
The CW transmissions will be callsign ID RS01S, select telemetry, and callsigns of people actively involved with the ARISS program.
145.920 MHz SSB BPSK-1000 Telemetry
The BPSK transmissions will feature a new 1kBPSK protocol developed by Phil Karn, KA9Q to be readable in low signal level conditions. The BPSK data will transmit satellite telemetry. When the CW2 beacon on 145.919 MHz is active this indicates that the BPSK-1000 format is being transmitted. If the CW1 beacon on 145.939 MHz is active this indicates the backup of BPSK-400 format is being transmitted.
